What a Day!!!

It is only 11 AM mountain time and what a day of happiness and worry we have already had.

We started with wonderful news of Aunt Suzi giving birth to her second baby boy, Kade Edward at 242 AM pacific time. Kade decided it was not necessary to wait for Suzi's doctor to arrive but instead thought it would be fun to break his water right as Suzi was going to have her epidural. This lead to Suzi having Mike on one hand, the anesthesiologist on the other telling her "don't push, don't push" which was not going to happen. Suzi looked down to see Kade's head out and then everyone starting screaming for the nurse who delivered him. What a night!!! He was born perfectly healthy at 7 lbs 9 ozs and 19.5 inches. Pictures to follow--Suzi is doing well as is baby this morning.

On the worry side, we decided to take MaryJane to a new vet today for a second opinion. She had developed some "growths" since we have been here. Each time she got a new one, I took it to get checked out and the first vet thought it was just a fatty lymphoma. Mary started acting a bit funny this week, not eating breakfast, more tired than normal. We thought maybe it is just because she is 8 1/2 but decided to take her to the new vet this morning. She thought that both spots were the fatty lymphomas but we decided to biopsy them anyways along with doing some blood work. One turned out to be mast cells which is a common cancer in dogs. We are waiting for the blood work and the vet to call but she will have them removed this weekend and sent to a pathologist for grading. We are quite worried as you can imagine as grade 3 is not a good news ending. We are hoping for grade 1 that removal from surgery takes care of the problem. It is quite scary as Mary was our first baby. We will keep everyone updated.

Life, once again, proves how it can bring such joy in one moment and such sadness/worry in the other. We seem to be reminded of this time after time over this last year.
